Our Story
Thanks for stopping by! We are the Sharys—a family of six (plus two doodle dogs and a leopard gecko) living life full-time on the road.
Our story began in 2008, when she thought he looked like a fireman and he thought she had a strong personality. He was more right than she was…
Married in 2010. Found personal relationships with Jesus after struggling through infertility. IVF twins born in 2013. Miracle baby in 2016. And a surprise in 2019. The Lord has been good to us. More to come on that later.
Miranda grew up tent camping with her family. Ryan grew up cruising the Atlantic with his. What better way to combine the two lives than with a travel trailer—with the amenities of home and an outdoor adventure. Massively pregnant with baby #4 and in a “glamping tent” in Pennsylvania, Miranda finally talked Ryan into looking into buying a camper and traveling that way as a family. In 2020 (the worst time to buy an RV of any kind—thank you, COVID-19), we made our first purchase, a 2016 Keystone Passport 3290BH. It was almost 37 feet long, enormous, and unfortunately water-damaged. Even though we tried hard to fix it, make it our own, and spruce it up… it was a source of anxiety for both of us. However, it dipped our toes into the life and freedom that we would soon come to love.
In April of 2021, the world was still massively shut down, we were camping in winter coats in Northeast Ohio and made the sudden decision to head south—way south. That turned into a 19 day trip from Ohio, to Florida, to Iowa (to pick up puppy Charlotte) and back home. That experience changed something in us. It opened our eyes to a simpler way of life. One of adventure, togetherness, and spontaneity.
Fast forward to February 2022, we had researched, planned, and knew our next steps. We purchased a 2022 Jayco Redhawk 31F that would take our family across the country more than once. The perfect rig for months on the road with 4 kids, 2 dogs, and a leopard gecko. Our passion for adventure, intentional family time, and a simpler way of life continued to grow with each trip and we began to toss around the idea of “going full time”.
In the small town of Montrose, Colorado, we officially decided to take the plunge. Yes, it was crazy—but we would regret it if we didn’t. We got home from that trip about a week later and began getting the house ready to sell. Within 24 hours of listing the house, it was under contract. We picked up our new 2025 Alliance Valor 44V14 that day and moved out of the house AND into the camper within a month.
June 13th, 2025, we said goodbye to our family home of 13 years and set out to follow what we feel the Lord has been leading us to. A different life. A life of intention and of taking advantage of time that we will never get back. Showing our kids how magnificent our Creator is (and appreciating it for ourselves) one National Park, big city, new church experience, or small town at a time.
We created Mile Markers & Memories to share the highs, lows, and honest moments of full-time RV living. From how we roadschool to what we pack for long drives, we hope our story inspires and equips other families to chase a slower, more intentional life—whether for a weekend or a season.
If you’re dreaming of the open road, curious about roadschooling, or just want ideas for your next national park adventure, you’re in the right place.
We hope you stick around for the ride.

Why Full-Time RV Life?
Life on the road gives us the freedom to focus on what matters most. Without the clutter of a busy schedule or home, we’ve embraced a simpler, slower rhythm—one built around experiences and each other, not things.
Living small brings us closer. In our tiny home on wheels, there’s nowhere to hide. We’ve grown in patience, connection, and grace as a family. The challenges give us opportunities for refinement and forces us out of our comfort zone.
Every place brings something new. From deserts to coastlines, we’re constantly learning, exploring, and being reminded of how big and beautiful the world is.
